Frederick Clarke |born 1986|, is a multi-media artist and music producer, living in Johannesburg, South Africa

After schooling in Pretoria he completed a BA Fine Arts degree at the University of Witwatersrand. (WITS). His work explores multiple themes, mediums and styles - predominantly drawing, painting, printmaking and music. Inspiration is drawn from nature, mathematics, mark-making and intuitive process, moving between abstract and figurative expression. His music (Mathroom) is in ways a sonic counterpart to the visuals, exploring texture, electronic sound-scaping, polyrhythmic structures and thematic story-telling.

While living in the downtown Johannesburg district of Maboneng from 2010 - 2014, Clarke founded and managed Math Room (public studio), Ourspace (collective non-profit creative hub), and Rubixcube Gallery which hosted multiple collaborative creative events.

Clarke has exhibited work in South Africa, Argentina, and Japan. He continues to live and work as a multi-media artist between Johannesburg and Cape Town.
